Mitchell A. Freed, CPA and Maryam A. Tavakoli, CPA founded T&F to give organizations direct access to experienced professionals who understand their financial, tax and reporting responsibilities. Both partners remain closely involved in client engagements, combining technical knowledge with practical guidance tailored to each organization.

Mitchell A. Freed, CPA

Co-founding Partner · Managing Partner

Mitchell A. Freed is a co-founding and managing partner of T&F Certified Public Accountants, LLC. He focuses on attestation, tax and consulting services for nonprofit trade associations and charitable organizations. He also oversees the firm’s Nonprofit Advisory Group and administers quality-control standards for attestation, tax and accounting matters throughout the firm.

Mr. Freed has more than 27 years of experience providing attestation, tax and consulting services to nonprofit organizations. His work extends beyond annual reporting: he regularly advises nonprofit leaders on strategic planning, budgeting, unrelated business income tax, governance and operational matters that affect long-term financial health.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants and is licensed by the Maryland and Virginia Boards of Accountancy.

Maryam A. Tavakoli, CPA

Co-founding Partner

Maryam A. Tavakoli is a co-founding partner of T&F Certified Public Accountants, LLC. She focuses on accounting and consulting services for nonprofit trade associations and charitable organizations, helping clients strengthen their accounting practices and meet their financial reporting responsibilities.

Ms. Tavakoli manages and performs nonprofit engagements involving accounting, consultation and audit services. With more than 21 years of focused nonprofit experience, she brings a detailed understanding of the day-to-day accounting challenges faced by tax-exempt organizations and works closely with client leadership throughout each engagement.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, graduating with honors in cum laude standing. She is licensed by the Maryland and Virginia Boards of Accountancy and regularly completes continuing professional education focused on nonprofit organizations.
